Dear LMC Membership, Program Partners & Community Allies:

It is with great excitement that we announce a new direction for the Lowcountry Manufacturers Council (LMC).  At the July meeting, the LMC Board of Directors voted to establish a strategic partnership with the South Carolina Manufacturers Alliance (SCMA).  As part of this plan, the LMC has named Jennifer DeWitt as the full-time executive director, and we have established a new office for the organization in North Charleston.  The LMC leadership is confident that local manufacturers will benefit from this decision.

The LMC will continue to function and serve the membership just as it has in the past.  The LMC’s leadership, program of work and mission will not change, but will instead be enhanced.  As a “regional council” within the SCMA, the LMC will have access to additional services, programs and resources.  As an added benefit, all LMC members will become members of the SCMA at no additional cost. 

The SCMA is a member-based organization focused on addressing legislative issues affecting manufacturers. Headquartered in Columbia , they provide a unified voice for the state’s manufacturing community by seeking positive action in state government.  SCMA’s mission clearly aligns with the LMC’s, and their legislative expertise and statewide perspective bring great value. 

In addition, this alliance will enable LMC members to participate in programs supported by the SCMA which include:  Made in South Carolina public awareness campaign, Plant Manager and Human Resource Annual Meeting, Southeastern Workforce Protection Conference, and South Carolina’s Shingo Prize for excellence in manufacturing award.
